Lake Chapala
Located in the heart of south-central Jalisco, the Lake Chapala region is a jewel of natural beauty and cultural richness. It is located about an hour south of Guadalajara, Mexico’s second largest city and the capital of the state of Jalisco. Lake Chapala is Mexico’s largest freshwater lake, and it is surrounded by the majestic Sierra Madre mountains, which peak out at over 2900 m (9,500 ft).
